Easy Guide to Get to Capo di Sorrento
Capo di Sorrento and Regina Giovanna bath are right next to each other just 20 minutes outside of Sorrento town. Getting there is easier than you think.
I spent four days in Sorrento Town and decided to go here on my last day when I had a couple of empty hours in the afternoon and the sky cleared up from the morning rain.
Capo di Sorrento is a cliff point with spectacular views of the bay just outside of Sorrento town, within the Sorrento Peninsula. The Bagno della Regina Giovanna, an open water swimming hole, is right next to it. Both are simple to get to, however, depending on the time of day, it can get very crowded.

Roads in Sorrento
I chose to walk to it as I was staying at Santa Fortuna Camping, only a twenty minute walk from the point. However, the road to the path entrance is very narrow, winding, and hilly. I would only go if you’re comfortable walking around the Sorrento Roads.
If you’re coming from town or another part of the peninsula that is further away, I would take a taxi or scooter to the entrance.
Entrance to Capo di Sorrento
The path leading down to the Capo di Sorrento point is an even narrower cobblestone path. There is a guard out front and it almost looks as if you are not supposed to enter, but you can. People come in and out all day long as it is open 24 hours.

Cobblestone Path
The path down is narrow, gently sloped, and easy to walk. There is an olive tree grove on the right side and a solid cobblestone wall on the left. At the very end, you will see the sea peeking through. Once there, turn left and head to the Bagno.
When to go
As expected the Capo di Sorrento hike and the Bagno della Regina Giovanna get very popular in the afternoon. If you want to swim, I would go earlier in the day because the sun is directly over the swimming hole, making the water hotter. The earlier you go, the less crowded.
If you are just going for beautiful views, the best time would be during the sunrise and sunset. The point has an incredible view of the entire bay from Naples to Sorrento. You can even see the volcano, Mt Vesuvius, on the horizon.
Is Capo di Sorrento Safe?
You can access the water through the front end of the cliff, but it is very choppy and the rocks are very jagged. I would only get in if you are a strong swimmer.
It is much easier to swim in the Bagno. However, the steps to get down into it are very muddy and slippery especially after a heavy rain. There is a wooden railing, but only on one side and when there are big crowds, it’s harder to get a good grip the entire time.
