Mid 2024 Personal Life Updates
A lot has changed since I started this blog just six months ago. This week, I thought I would share some major life updates. These are my confessions (Usher voice).
I spent my savings
When I began this year, I had a lot of energy and even more plans. I focused on intentionally doing things I had been putting off: blogging, surfing, going to the Philippines… You get it, you saw. At first, it was exciting booking trips spontaneously. Now, it’s far less charming.
This is a first for me since I’ve always been incredibly good with my money. But I have no regrets. I mean, I went to the Galapagos and played with sea lions like a Disney princess.
I’m taking a travel break
Although I will continue to post travel tips, guides, advice, and more, I do not plan on going anywhere for a couple of months. I love being home and having my sisters, friends, dogs, and family nearby. I have at least ten books on my shelf that I want to get through. I’m working out, eating well, and focusing on other things (see below).
I’m doing a 90 day meditation
I’ve been meditating nearly every day for the last five years. However, this is the first time I’m doing an intensive 90 day practice with two-a-day sessions. The most challenging part is staying awake for my nightly meditation after a long night of partying. It’s all a part of a balanced life.
I’m growing flowers
My flower garden has more than doubled this year. Unfortunately, I don’t have the proper land to grow the best quality. The soil is nutrient deficient and the surrounding homes & trees limit sunlight. But don’t worry, I’m talking to them often so as to encourage new growth. By the end of this month, I will have bouquets available.
I’m applying to full time jobs
I am open and ready for business folks. I’ve been actively applying to jobs, including hybrid roles. No luck yet. Or maybe the best luck yet(?) Maktub and all that.
I’m dating
I have been on a handful of dates in my lifetime. Admittedly, I lack patience, empathy, and grace with the other gender. Now, I’ve been on three dates in the last two weeks, mostly orchestrated by my two best friends who have been setting me up on blind dates. Apparently, dating can be fun.
One guy offered me advice which I now extend to you: carefully consider your non-negotiables and honor them.
I’m writing a book
Dearest gentle reader, I am working on my debut novel. Turns out, it takes a LOT of work to release a book. Along with money, editors, reviews, and patience. I’m hoping to publish it within the next year. I will be spending the rest of this one perfecting it.
Thanks for reading one of my more personal posts
